What Goes Into a High-Performance Home Theater Design?
The display may be the centerpiece, but a great home theater is the sum of its parts. Acoustic treatments, projection, lighting, seating, and control all must be planned together, so the home theater designers at Audio Video Excellence take a comprehensive look at all the components. The result is a uniquely yours system that manages all of your AV components while looking great doing it.
Smart Lighting
Complete darkness can strain the eyes, so our lighting designers layer multiple fixture types to enhance the cinematic experience. Dimmed overheads and wall sconces set the mood for movie night, while LED strips and task lamps keep steps and snack runs safe.
The same design adapts for gaming or game day, and motorized drapery and shades keep Arizona sunlight from washing out the picture while dampening sound reverberation.
Acoustic Treatments
Curate the perfect entertainment hub with acoustic treatments that isolate sound from the rest of your luxury home, so a loud finale never reaches nearby bedrooms. Enjoy superior sound quality, free of echoes or reverberation, that surpasses that of commercial theaters.
Experience every footstep and whisper as if you're right there in the scene! Our elegant acoustic treatments not only eliminate unwanted reflections for a balanced soundscape, but they are also available in fabrics and patterns that suit your interior design.
Home Control
Simplify your entertainment experience by working with a home theater company that can integrate all your devices into a single, easy-to-use system. Hassle-free control of all your components lets you easily manage lights, audio, video, climate, and more from a dedicated touchpad, mobile app, or sleek remote.
Create preset scenes for your favorite activities, like movie nights or kickoffs, and watch as a single button press dims the lights, powers on the projector, lowers the screen, and starts playing your favorite streaming service.
Immersive Audio
Relish in immersive movie soundtracks with a professional surround sound system design and installation. Expertly placed high-end loudspeakers and in-ceiling and in-wall speakers deliver crystal-clear sound from all around you.
Premium, immersive sound comes from all directions thanks to Dolby Atmos and DTS:X spatial audio technology. Feel powerful explosions reverberating throughout the room and the creak of floorboards as if the villain is right behind you. You’ll enjoy the ultimate movie-watching experience without intrusive tech ruining your desired design motif.
High-Quality Projectors
Bring the classic big-screen cinema feel to your home with a 4K laser projector. Enjoy lifelike, larger-than-life pictures that take you right into your favorite fictional worlds.
Experience unparalleled color, contrast, and black levels that make it seem like you’re looking through a window rather than at a screen. You can stream the latest releases, watch football on Sundays, or binge-watch your favorite TV series with stunningly crisp visuals you've never experienced before.
Innovative Screens
Pair your projector with an ambient light-rejecting screen for the best viewing experience. These screens only absorb light from your projector, ensuring a bright image with rich colors even in less-than-ideal lighting conditions.
Available in various sizes, AV designs from Audio Video Excellence will be tailored to your unique space. If you want larger-than-life visuals, you could opt for a premium video wall instead of a projector/projection screen combination. Your screen options are nearly endless.
Custom Seating
Comfort deserves as much design attention as the screen. Snuggle up for a movie night with the entire family and all your friends in custom home theater seating. Choose from a variety of models and fabric options, from sleek leather loungers to fluffy plush recliners.
Available in different colors and modular systems, we'll help you find the perfect fit for your home. Make your theater experience even better with seating accessories, such as retractable arms, cup holders, tray tables, touchscreen mounts, reading lights, lumbar pillows, and more.
Star Ceilings
Create an enchanting atmosphere with star ceilings that bring the magic of the night sky into your premium home theater in Phoenix or Carefree. Adjust the stars' colors and intensity to suit any occasion or genre, and enjoy fiber-optic shooting stars for added dynamism. Star ceilings also work as an additional acoustic treatment, improving sound quality throughout the room.

Your Home Theater Questions, Answered
Timelines depend on room size, whether the space is new construction or a remodel, and the scope of acoustic work that is needed. Book a consultation to get a more accurate estimate that accounts for all these factors.
Projects move through six stages, from the first consultation to final calibration, and we share a schedule once the design is approved so you always know what comes next.
Room size, acoustic requirements, equipment tier, and the level of automation most strongly shape the investment. A consultation lets us outline a design around your priorities and budget, and nothing moves forward until you have reviewed and approved the plan.
Yes. We design theaters for remodels and new construction, coordinating with your builder, architect, and interior designer so the room suits your aesthetic as if it had always been there. A spare room or bonus space can be converted into a dedicated screening room.
We contain sound with acoustic treatments planned around the room's layout, so a loud finale never reaches nearby bedrooms. Equipment placement and ventilation are designed from the start to keep the room comfortable through long movie nights and Arizona summers. We settle these details during the design stage, before construction begins.
One control system links the theater with lighting, shades, climate, and audio. A button press on a Control4 remote or touchscreen can set the whole room for movie night, and the same system runs the rest of your home, so there is only one interface to learn.
A dedicated theater focuses on light and sound control for movie-first performances, while a media room is designed to blend into living spaces and can flex for other uses.
You have 24/7 on-site and remote support, along with documentation kept on file and manufacturer warranties honored. Regardless of being here one season of the year or all year-round, your custom theater is always ready for you to press the Play button.
